2009 Highlight
The Fort Worth Police and Fire Fighters Memorial was dedicated Friday, June 5, 2009 in Trinity Park. A.B.C.D. is one of the sponsors of the memorial that honors 3 deputy marshals, 55 police officers and 37 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.

2009 Highlight
This evening Mayor Mike Moncrief and councilman Carter Burdette honored Fort Worth's renowned Van Cliburn with the renaming of Arch Adams Street to Van Cliburn Way. The dedication coincides with the thirteenth Cliburn Competition May 22 - June 7th. The name change and dedication honoring Van Cliburn for his many contributions to the Fort Worth cultural community was originally suggested by ABCD board member, Phillip Poole.

Executive director Jeff Hooper presented an overview of the National Cutting Horse Association and their 2009-2010 activities.

Meeting was held at MAC's on 7th Restaurant 2600 W. 7th St., Ste 153. Guest speaker was George Behmanesh, Assistant Director of Transportation and Public Works. He spoke about the 7th Street Bridge project.

Meeting was held at the Modern Art Museum. The Guest speaker was Mayor Mike Moncrief of Fort Worth. ABCD met Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at The Modern Museum with Phillip Poole presiding in Aaron Chase's absence. Aaron had family illness. Mayor Mike Moncrief updated the approximate 30-35 members in attendance on city affairs such as renaming Arch Adams to Van Cliburn Way and on transportation issues. Mayor Mike noted the population in Fort Worth increased 17,400 in 2008. He also mentioned the old Post Office on Lancaster may become the new City Hall. Meeting was held at the Museum of Science & History. We had a record crowd attendance! Van Romans gave us an excellent tour of the newly constructed museum grounds. The Museum of Science and History is scheduled for completion in November, and we eagerly await the final product. A special thanks to Van, Becky, Gretchen, and Feleshia.

Meeting was held at the South Texas Room at Amon Carter Exhibit Hall. Kirk Slaughter and Bruce Benner gave us an informative presentation on the parking garage being constructed on the East side of Montgomery and Watonga Street.

Meeting was held at Kincaid's Hamburgers. Bill Fairley with Edward Jones Investments spoke about the market and general market updates as they exist now.

Meeting was held at UNT Health Science Center in the Atrium Room The guest speaker was District 9 Councilman, Joel Burns. He spoke about Fort Worth's planned streetcar system.

Meeting was held at Amon Carter Museum. The guest speaker was the director of the museum, Ron Tyler. He spoke on the business of american art.

Meeting was held at 3300 West 7th Street, guest speakers were Reece Pettigrew and Richard Garvey of Jagee Properties. They gave an update on museum place project.

Meeting was held at Chimy’s Cerveceria, guest speakers were Bud Kennedy and Phillip Poole. Mr. Kennedy discussed local politics and restaurants and Mr. Poole discussed development projects within the cultural district and the proposed lite rail.

Meeting was held at Courtyard by Marriott, guest speaker, David Jodray, senior planner for Transportation and Public Works for the City of Fort Worth, he discussed air quality and transit plans for the future.

Meeting was held at Kincaid’s Hamburgers. The guest speaker was Brany O’Quinn, president of Camp Bowie District, Inc. She discussed development and landscape plans along Camp Bowie Blvd. She encouraged everyone to attend Jazz on the Boulevard.

Meeting was held at Cultural District Banquet Centre. The guest speakers were Mr. Brett Witzig, construction manager for Cypress Equities and David Michael Farrell, Good Fulton & Farrell Architects. Their program covered the design, planning and construction of Cypress Equities West 7th project.

Meeting was held at the Modern Art Museum. The guest speaker was Dale Fissler, Fort Worth City Manager. He presented a very informative overview of the city’s water history and an outline of the city’s plans for water needs and lite-rail.

Meeting was held at the Backstage Club in the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The guest speaker was Andree Griffin, Fort Worth Basin Geology Manager for XTO Energy. Her topic was “Horizontal Drilling in the Barnett Shale”.

Meeting was held at the University of Texas Health Science Center. The guest speaker was Gregg Upp, Senior Vice President of UNT Health Science Center. His topic was the redevelopment of the old hospital tract into college space.

Our guest speaker will be Kirk Williams, Vice President of Development for Cypress Equities. This group is redeveloping the former Acme Brick property. The project will be a premier mixed-use development that will include: retail, restaurants, entertainment, office, a Health Club and a hotel.

Our guest speakers; Richard Garvey and Reece Pettigrew of JaGee Properties will present on the Museum Place project. This project will reshape 11 acres north of the Museums into an exciting mixed use development including upscale retail stores, unique restaurants, class A office space, hundreds of residences, and a boutique hotel.
